Internet Addresses Category

Host name

The "Host name" parameter specifies the name of the computer running NetAlive This name should be the TCP/IP host name.

If a computer cannot be a host, or the host name changes frequently, use an arbitrary word (such as CLIENT).

The initial value for the "Host name" parameter is "CLIENT."

Home URL

The "Home URL" parameter specifies the Internet address (URL) for the NetAlive system. The NetAlive installation does not download certain infrequently-used files (such as error messages); these are downloaded through the Home URL only when needed.

The initial value of the "Home URL" parameter is "http://www.netalive.com."

Security Server

The "Security server" parameter specifies the Internet address (URL) for a computer that will provide compiled (binary) code required to run applications. NetAlive Software provides a Security Server on behalf of customers. Corporate customers with unique security requirements may substitute their own server.

Note: this parameter used to be called "Compile server," and some references to this name may still appear in the product or documentation.

The initial value of the "Security server" parameter is "http://www.netalive.com."

Default Palette

The "Default palette" parameter specifies the Internet address (URL) of a palette file. NetAlive usees the palette of the currently-active document if there is one. If not, Net Alive! uses the palette specified by this parameter.

The default palette can specify a local file using a URL like file:///c|/netalive/palette.net.

Note: Older versions of NetAlive set the palette file to "PALETTE.NET" by default. NetAlive loads the default palette when it encounters "PALETTE.NET" (exact, case-sensitive matching required) in a document. At some point this special behavior will be removed.

The initial value of the "Default palette" parameter is "http://www.netalive.com/programs/palette.net."
