NetAlive DocumentationA NetAlive designer uses captioned icons to represent the parts of an application (tasks). End-users see the captions and/or icons in a variety of indirect ways. The Icon and Caption dialog lets the designer choose an icon and caption and control the ways they are presented to the end user.
A file name and an integer index determine a task's icon. If the file name is non-empty, NetAlive displays the index'th icon in the specified file. (The icon will appear differently on different computers if the specified files are different.) If the file name is empty, NetAlive displays the index'th built-in icon of the NetAlive program. Some NetAlive icons will be maintained at common locations in future versions of NetAlive (see below).
This field contains the icon's file name. If the field is empty, NetAlive uses icons built-in to the NetAlive system program.
This field represents the icon's index within the file. NetAlive loads the list box with all the icons in the file and sets the list-box's selection to the index'th icon. The user changes the index by selecting a different icon.
Invokes a File Open dialog for selecting the file name parameter.
A text field representing the icon's caption.
Note: NetAlive appends " on host" to the caption of addressed icons.
Enables the caption as a heading on widgets. If selected, the caption gets drawn above the upper-left corner of its widget when applications are running. For example: a widget with caption "File names:" gets loaded with file names. With this parameter selected, the user will see a list of file names with the words "File names:" positioned as a heading.
Enables the caption as a status message on functions. If selected, enables messages in NetAlive's status bar indicating the status of function execution. For example: a function has caption "Search." With this parameter selected, messages like "Search: compiling," "Search: executing." will appear in the status bar at appropriate times.
